PTE is an abbreviated form for the Pearson Tests of English. Like the TOEFL and IELTS, it is an English language exam that is designed to check the candidate’s expertise in the English language. CATEGORIES OF PTE EXAM

REFUND SCHEME
A candidate can apply for a full refund if he cancels the test 14 days before the test date. If the candidate cancels the exam 7 days before the test date, then he is eligible for a 50% refund. If a candidate cancels the exam less than 7 days before the exam, then there will not be any refund facility available.

EXAM RESCHEDULING
Candidates can reschedule their test date by paying additional charges, If a candidate reschedules the test 13-8 days before the actual test date, then he has to pay 50% of the rescheduling fee for the renewed test date. Candidates that reschedule their exam less than 7 days before the actual test date, have to pay the fee in full for the renewed test date.

HOW TO BOOK THE PTE EXAM?

These are the general steps that you need to follow to register for the PTE exam:

  • Create a web account on the official PTE academic website. After opening the account, fill in the details including your passport details
  • Pick the test date and test center that suits you
  • Make the payment
  • Once you make the payment, you will receive an acknowledgment

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS FOR PTE
There are no specific requirements that one must possess to take the PTE exam. To take the PTE test, the candidate must be at least 16 years of age. Likewise, there are also no restrictions as to the number of times you can take this exam. The PTE certificate is recognized in countries like Spain, Italy, the UK, the USA, Singapore, and New Zealand.

PTE SYLLABUS
The PTE syllabus is separated into four categories namely speaking, writing, reading, and listening.

  1. PTE speaking and writing

This section is further sub-divided into 8 sub-sections. The total time limit for finish this section is 77-93 minutes.

PTE Personal Introduction With 25 seconds of preparation time, you will have to read out a prompt and tape your personal details within 30 seconds. These details are later sent to different schools.
PTE Read aloud You will be given a transcript. You will have to read the text on the transcript out loud. If you pause for more than 3 seconds, the recording will stop.
PTE Repeating sentences Audio will be played. You will have to repeat the audio in 15 seconds.
PTE Image Description You will observe an image. After observing it for 25 seconds, you will have to describe it in your own words.
PTE Retell lecture Listen to the lecture and summarize it in your own words.
PTE Respond to a short question Listen to the audio and respond to it with a single or multiple words.
PTE Summarize in a single sentence Read the given passage and summarize the important points within 75 words in at least 10 minutes.
PTE Essay writing Write an essay containing 200 – 300 words in 20 minutes.

 

  1. PTE reading

The PTE reading section contains 5 sub sections and it should be completed in 32-40 minutes.

PTE Reading and Writing – Fill in the Blanks Fill in the blanks with the right answers.
PTE Multiple Choice – Multiple answers Read the given passage and choose different multiple right answers.
PTE Reordering paragraphs Reordering the given sentences in the correct order to form a coherent passage.
PTE Fill in the blanks Choose the right word from the dropdown boxes.
PTE Multiple Choice – Single answer Select a single right answer from the option list.

 

  1. PTE listening

The candidate should complete this section in 45-57 minutes.

PTE Summarize spoken test Summarize the audio in about 50-70 words.
PTE Multiple Choice – Multiple answers Carefully listen to the audio and choose numerous correct answers.
PTE Listening and Writing – Fill in the blanks Listen to the audio and fill in the blanks with the exact phrases in the given transcript.
PTE Highlight the perfect summary Listen to the audio and choose the correct summary.
PTE Multiple Choice – Single answer Choose a single right answer from the multiple-choice options.
PTE Find the missing words Listen to the audio, find the missing words.
PTE Highlight the incorrect words Listen to the audio and replace the incorrect words.
PTE Write from dictation Listen to the audio and highlight the wrong words.
